Peter Sherlock invites all ANZAMEMS members and friends to the launch of his new book, The Monuments of Westminster Abbey: Power and Memory in Early Modern Britain. This is the first critical history of the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century monuments at the Abbey, including how they were created, treated, and interpreted by visitors. With 8 colour and 20 black and white illustrations, this book provides a new window on to the cultural history of early modern England in a time of extraordinary religious, political and social transition.
The book will be launched by Professor Catherine Kovesi at 6pm on Thursday 5 March 2026 at St Paul’s Cathedral Melbourne (please come for Choral Evensong at 5.10pm).
